Emergency Initiatives
Saturday of Caring
Food access is a critical challenge for our neighbors, many of whom are unable to leave their homes for groceries and essential items. Saturday of Caring was originally launched in partnership with the Muransky family in response to the pandemic. It continues to thrive today, serving 465 homes each month.
Women United
Women United is the driving force behind United Way’s Early Childhood Education Initiatives. This group of dedicated women leads through volunteerism and fundraising to support children and families in the most vulnerable situations. Women United plays a vital role by providing basic needs kits to school districts across our community, emergency funds for students and families in crisis, and financial support to help schools pay for breakfast and lunch debt.
AFL-CIO
Our AFL-CIO partners are committed to community outreach and furthering our impact each year. They sponsored the holiday Saturday of Caring and participated in all Saturday of Caring events. They volunteer every year at our Muransky Companies Bass Classic and Holiday Basketball Classic.
Our AFL-CIO partnership allowed United Way to hand out 210 food vouchers, serving 600 individuals. AFL-CIO members built 5 wheelchair ramps this year.
Vail’s Voice
United Way partnered with Vail’s Voice, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to supporting pediatric patients facing serious or prolonged illnesses. Vail Rohan is the inspiration behind this foundation and partnership. Through partnership with our United Way, her family works to identify and assist those in need of extra support during hospital stays and difficult medical journeys.
