United Way reaches 2012 campaign goal
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley announced on February 19, 2013 that the annual campaign raised $2,504,224 for the community, exceeding its 2012 Campaign goal of $2.5 million. As a campaign incentive this year, Greenwood Chevrolet donated a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. All donors of $200 or more to the 2012 campaign of both United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and United Way of Trumbull County qualified for the drawing. Over 1400 donors were eligible for the drawing. The winner was Myra Vitto, an employee at PNC. As another campaign incentive, donors of $120 or more to the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley qualified for the drawing of a $250 GetGo Gas Card donated by Giant Eagle. Over 1700 donors were eligible for the drawing. The winner was Corey Davoll, an employee at Turning Technologies. All businesses who contributed for the first time through the United Way Corporate Challenge, qualified for the drawing of a $500 Gift Certificate donated by Modern Office Products. The winner was L. VALLEYCARE health system of ohio presents check to United Way
ValleyCare Health System of Ohio recently presented a $37,500 check to the United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley and the United Way of Trumbull County representing their employee contributions to the 2012 Campaign. The check presentation was held at the American Red Cross in Warren. SUPER SATURDAY KICKS-OFF tax filing season
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and PNC Bank teamed up with community partners to kick-off tax filing season on Saturday, February 2, with ‘Super Saturday’. Pictured above is the VITA site at the Lariccia School of Accounting & Finance at Youngstown State University. Super Saturday was the first day that free tax preparation was offered in the Mahoning Valley. Hometown pharmacy's healthy kids free vitamin program continues partnership with united way
Hometown Pharmacy and the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley recently held a joint press conference at Market Street Elementary School in Boardman to discuss the success and continuation of the Healthy Kids Free Vitamin Program. Hometown Pharmacy launched its free vitamin program in March 2011 in an effort to provide free multivitamins to children between the ages of 5 and 12. The 2-year program has grown to include 26 school districts and has distributed more than 45,000 bottles of vitamins to 6,000+ families. HOME SAVINGS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION CHECK PRESENTATION
Darlene Pavlock, Executive Director, Home Savings Charitable Foundation, presents a $40,000 check to Bob Hannon, President, United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. The gift will be used towards the 2012 United Way Campaign.

YSU Greek Students held a toy collection for our United Way. The toys will be delivered to needy children in our community this holiday season. D&E Circle of friends check presentation
Greg Cvetkovic, Executive Director of D&E Counseling Center, presented Bob Hannon with a $5,000 check for the 2012 Campaign. The donation came from a portion of the proceeds from the Circle of Friends Golf Outing.

HUNTINGTON BANK DONATES BACKPACKS AS PART OF STUFF THE BUS CAMPAIGN
Huntington Bank donated backpacks to United Way as part of the Stuff the Bus school supply collection. Covelli Enterprises Provides Lunch to Success By 6 Students
Covelli Enterprises donated lunch to students participating in the Success By 6 summer readiness program this past summer. UNITED WAY AND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION PARTNER ON CHILDHOOD NUTRITION
United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is pleased to partner with the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley to provide the AN APPLE A DAY Children’s Nutrition Tracker to students participating in United Way’s Success By 6 Pre-Kindergarten Readiness summer program. Thanks to the generosity of the Community Foundation of Mahoning Valley Unrestricted Fund, nearly 600 children in 18 participating school districts in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties will receive the Nutrition Tracker at the end of their summer school experience. Partnership provides free dental care to students in united way's success by 6
Through a partnership between the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, the HMHP Foundation, the Frank and Pearl Gelbman Foundation and the Florence and Ward Beecher Foundations, free dental care will be available to students in Campbell and rural areas of Mahoning County this summer. St. Elizabeth Health Center’s mobile dental van, Smile Station, will provide dental care to students enrolled in the United Way’s Success By 6, a pre-kindergarten readiness initiative to help children under the age of 6 be successful in school. United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Expands Success By 6 Program through support from the GM Foundation
On behalf of the GM Foundation, the joint leadership team of the Lordstown Complex, home of the Chevrolet Cruze, recently presented a $15,000 Plant City grant to the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley's Success By 6 program. This support from the GM Foundation will help expand the Success By 6 program into Niles and LaBrae schools in Trumbull County.
